Yes, finally April... Its Mission Creek week and I got so busy, I forgot to post it on the calendar! Woe is me! That was a rather archaic expression, but I love it! Yes, I love the old language. I find myself attracted to those movies, Like Sense and Sensibility, Howard's End, etc. Just want to hear that language. English so eloquent!
Something else I love, is when I meet somebody new for the first time and the exchange goes so well that I can walk away thinking, "Oh so glad I didn't screw that up!" You know what I mean, you say something stupid because you want to appear clever or you get your words mixed up and you start to sound like a bumbling idiot? Yeah, everybody does it. Walked into a candy store with my wife, looking for a particular type of licorice and they actually had it. I got so excited, I tried to draw the clerk into a pleasant exchange, noting that it was hard to find Coconut Licorice just anywhere, and I was grateful. The clerk suddenly got nervous and started to question me as to where I had looked and her tone was almost like she was the one responsible for the lack of it elsewhere. I paid her and as we turned to walk out, she stated, "Have a gweat day gooz!" (Have a great day guy's!) Of course the polite thing is to ignore it when people are so nervous they can't articulate. I felt bad for her and wondered what it was that had set her off. I sometimes forget that not all people can handle it if someone comes off too friendly. Being openly friendly can sometimes be construed as more of a 'come on' especially with the opposite sex. I one time had to work with a young girl when I was working in Foreign Exchange. The girl was so nervous when we sat down at the table together that she couldn't help but shake so bad she couldn't drink her water without spilling. When the interview was complete she expounded continuously about how things went better than she thought they would. How I had made her feel so at ease...
You just never know how its going to go...
